My Teaching MISSION AND professional plan |
Similar to the stages that the lotus flower goes through to be unique and extraordinary, I will encourage and support my students growth of self and intellect, despite any challenges they face so they can blossom into amazing individuals who see their inner magnificence, uniqueness, intellect and distinctiveness when learning and connecting with society - Cherry-Anne Gildharry (2013)

Self-confidence, motivation, uniquenessI will continuously motivate and guide my students to develop self-confidence and to believe in their innate potential and ability and their unique contributions to the classroom and society. I will use inspirational and motivational words, phrases, videos, poems, quotes and pictures to enhance confidence, which I will retrieve from the internet and books and encourage my students to similarly find, apply and reflect on.
growth, reflection,self-efficacyI will encourage my students to have a growth mindset in both personal and academic matters and constantly make them aware that their challenges will make them stronger and more capable individuals. Through technology, I will expose my students to the journeys of great people who have been through challenges and who have used these to create great success and deep learning and have them continuously visualize a successful future for themselves.
|
respect, awareness, collaborationI will cultivate a mind of acceptance and respect for all cultures as our nation and schools are rapidly becoming multicultural and have my students learn how to use Google translate to communicate with others who don't speak their language. I will provide students with the skills on how to amicably resolve conflicts and inspire them to use social networks to have a positive voice and to stand up against social negativity such as bullying and gossiping.
creativity, accountability, productivityI will ensure that my students acquire profound education and academic growth and inspire this through a safe learning environment. I will encourage my students’ thoughts, questions and suggestions and assure them that these are always accepted in my class. I will provoke higher thinking through investigative and inquiry-based tasks and model and allow for exploration, collaboration and personalization of learning through meaningful technology tools.
