Teaching experiences & Leadership roles
TRINIDAD & TOBAGO
I started my teaching career in Trinidad and Tobago where I taught high school Math for 15 years. The courses that I taught were similar to Algebra 1, Geometry and Pre-Calculus. During my years here, I was given the opportunity to design curriculum that was real-world applicable and integrated consumer arithmetic in math and so many other life related topics, so that students not only saw the relevance in math, but were able to use math to make purchase decisions. During this time, I also served as a Dean of Students and the Head of Form 4.
Responsibilities
Head of Form four (equivalent to grade 10), prepared Math lesson plans, tests, and coordinated meetings
Prepared advisory lessons for the students.
Dean of Discipline- I was involved in formulating and monitoring school rules. Also assisted with the prefect body at the school.
Developed passion towards math and assisted students in learning various math skills and tactics
Provided additional coaching to students to take external examinations

CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA
When I moved to the U.S, I was placed at the International Studies School at Garinger High School, a Title 1 school where I started off teaching Algebra 1 and Algebra 2. My principal observed my passion for teaching math and dedication to my job and my students, and asked me to be the Head of the Math Department during which I supported and guided teachers in impacting teaching and learning. During my time here, I assumed many other roles which I have listed below. I must add that I had exceptional leaders who supported and inspired me to be my best. I could not have asked for a better school and leaders to start my career in the U.S.
