jubilee academies - district secondary math coach
Below, you will find professional development trainings that I created and facilitated virtually when I served as a district secondary math coach at Jubilee Academies. There are other trainings that I co-facilitated, but these were not created by me, so to have respect for others' work, I will not share these trainings. The TI Nspire Calculator and Literacy in Math training that I co-facilitated with an ELL Math Coordinator was one that I created, but since we were co-presenting, the ELL coordinator had full autonomy to design her slides. She was very happy to be a part of this presentation.
The trainings that I created and facilitated below were based on teachers' and leaders' needs. I have provided PDF access to the trainings I created; these reflect my ideas and innovations. There are some links that are intentionally inaccessible in order to maintain the confidentiality of the district's information. However, some of these links are also linked to items I created on my own time. I will add these to my Google Drive and share them below each training section. I share these creations to inspire other creations and ideas in helping the most important people in education, our students. Please reach out to me via [email protected] if there was an oversight on my part and I shared information that should not be accessible to the public.
I am very grateful to Jubilee Academies for allowing me to serve as a district coach, share my talents and learn with them!

Workshop Overview
In this training, participants gained ideas on how to have students use TI Nspire to explore graphs, verify their work and make deeper and real-world connections to the math concepts in 8th Grade and Algebra 1 Math Units. |
Workshop Overview
In this training, participants gained ideas on how to have students use TI Nspire to explore graphs, verify their work and make deeper and real-world connections to the math concepts in Geometry and Precalculus Units. |
Workshop Overview
Participants learned ways to incorporate math literacy when students used calculators to explore concepts, create learning products and collaborate in learning. |
Workshop Overview
In this training, participants gained knowledge on my background with curriculum design, how to build at-a-glance unit designs and how to select tasks and engagement activities to impact meaningful and enduring learning experiences. |
Unit Designs
As a district secondary math coach, I determined teachers' and leaders' needs through conversations, observations and schools' goals. Based on these, I focused on helping educators develop unit designs, which they were extremely appreciative of. |
Workshop Overview
In this training, participants gained ideas on how to incorporate "hooks" and real-world connections in math lesson design in order to heighten intrinsic motivation and provide students with rigorous and enduring learning experiences. Participants also gained ideas on representing learning and using rubrics to help students create meaningful products. |
Workshop Overview
In this training, participants gained general ideas about Imagine Math in regards to its connections to blended learning, collecting and using student data, implementation techniques and ways to have students represent their learning using journals. Using journals is a great way to have students represent their learning. Participants were very drawn to this idea when I presented it, and they suggested it a lot. It is one idea that I advocated for during my time as a district coach because I saw the benefits it had with my ELL students. |
Workshop Overview
In this training, participants gained ideas on how to use UPSE , a district and well-known protocol that focused on incorporating literacy in Math. Participants gained information on each step of the element in the secondary level and explored examples of how I supported the implementation of this new district-wide initiative in the secondary level during my previous year as a district coach, a school-based coach (secondary and elementary) and with my ELL students. To encourage buy-in and incorporate adult learning principle elements, participants were given the autonomy to use their unique skills and ideas while staying aligned to our district's initiative. |
