MOTIVATION AND MINDSET
SETTING THE TONE
Setting the tone for students to adopt a positive mindset and develop both extrinsic and intrinsic motivation is extremely important as it powerfully impacts learning! Research states that when students are in a relaxed mood there is a greater probability of information going to the pre-frontal cortex as opposed to the reactive brain. The pre-frontal cortex is the part of the brain that is responsible for cellular changes that produce long term neural connections. Additionally, when students are relaxed and happy this stimulates the production of dopamine , a neural transmitter which promotes the brain to process new information.

Since Setting The Tone for students to be relaxed and happy before learning takes place is so important, then taking the time to engage in strategies such as Movement, Circle Formation, Mindfulness and many others should be a great focus.
Research fully supports Movement in The Classroom and highlights the numerous benefits and its impact to learning. Circle formation and Mindfulness activities also invoke positive and happy moods and stimulates the productions of dopamine as well as develop both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. |
